Alright so i'm in open beta... only thing is... the lag is making the game unplayable for me... anything involving ship combat = warping ship around zone and unresponsive controls... i almost died in a tutorial because i couldnt fight back. I played during the stress test and nothing like this happened. it's quite frustrating.

I had the same issues. I had to open some ports (didn't mark down which ones and my router has a ton open) and also make a tweek.

Copy this file to your install directory and it should force the packets to use TCP instead of UDP and fix the lag.

I'll try that and see if it works for me, however, I think my issues have to do with my ancient vid card.

....which makes me wonder how low I can get the settings to go.

The biggest thing that helped with my video lag was turning the avatar count down to a smaller number.

look for something under program files/pirate of the burning sea or maybe program files/flying labs/potbs or something like that.

No, not anywhere. In your programfiles/potbs (install directory) save the file with the filename "pirates_local.ini" into that directorya dn it should fix it. You will get a notice in game after a minute or so saying "data could not be transerfered on UDP port blah blah" or something like that. DOn't worry, you'll be fine.

=)

I wasn't able to play beta as my comp couldn't keep up.  I'll be purchasing as soon as my new comp is up and running.

Maybe I should design an angel flag that fits in with the time period in the mean time. ;)
