I hear you. I'm out of town right now for a gig, so I won't be back around until the end of the month myself.

OrbusVR is the only RPG I know of in development. Echo Arena is a great multiplayer game that was just released. Rec Room also has some fun multiplayer elements to it. There are a few more good multiplayer games that are still in development.

They might have another weekend. You can pay your way into closed testing, though I have not bothered to do so.

Finally!! You can form parties in Oculus Home!

Quote
Today we’re rolling out an update to PublicTest that includes a new feature: Parties for Rift, so you can talk live with friends. In Oculus Home or Universal Menu, you can select a friend and choose “Invite to Party.” Friends in your party can chat with you across Rift apps, or wherever you go in VR. Each party can support a total of four people at a time and each person must have the PublicTest build installed to use Parties on Rift. Access to Parties will be rolling out gradually over the next twenty-four hours, so if you don’t see it right away, be patient.

Things slowed down a bit in July since there was a lot of barbecues and parties, but I finally hit my goal of 170! I'm setting my new goal for 157, though I'm planning on taking a three week trip soon, so we'll see how far along I get. 165 is the lightest I've ever been, so I'd at least like to get back to that. Feels good to hit my initial goal, though!

Facebook Inc. is taking another stab at turning its Oculus Rift virtual reality headset into a mass-market phenomenon. Later this year, the company plans to unveil a cheaper, wireless device that the company is betting will popularize VR the way Apple did the smartphone.

Currently VR hardware comes in two flavors: cheap headsets that turn smartphones into virtual reality players (like Samsung’s $130 Gear VR) and high-end gaming rigs (like Facebook’s $400 Oculus Rift) that hook up to $1,000-plus desktop computers. Facebook’s new headset is designed to bridge the gap -- a device that will sell for as little as $200 and need not be tethered to a PC or phone, according to people familiar with its development. It will ship next year and represent an entirely new category.

It sounds like this will be basically what the Gameboy was to the SNES. The benefit here is that you can take VR anywhere without the hassle of fiddling with your phone. The downside is that, currently, there's no plans for it to have positional tracking - meaning you'll be looking at the GearVR library of apps rather than the PC Rift's more robust offering.

This was teased about the positional tracking, however:

A future version of the product will have that technology, according to a person familiar with the plans.
