I was pretty certain you see her literally disintegrate from the explosion. Like you can see her skeleton for a second.

Ok, I looked at again and you just see her hair get blown forward and you can the light of the flame start to engulf her and then it cuts away.

What scene/movie am I thinking of where you can see the skin get blown literally off? lol

Am I the only one who believes Rachel is still alive?

nope.. I thought the same thing until they cast catwoman.. IF catwoman plays a love interest in the slightest then rachel HAS to be dead.. because he has such an addictive love to Rachel it eliminates the plausibility of him falling for someone else..

Rachel is dead.

You're like all those people asking if Harvey Dent is really dead that try so hard to guess a surprise comeback they just need Christopher Nolan to tell you face to face, they are dead and will not be back.

Your second paragraph is correct.

My assumption was Rachel was killed off purely from the view point it was Maggie Gyllenhaal.

I mean, if that is the girl who has to Batman's love interest, who wouldn't want to kill her?

Maybe you're thinking of the dream scene in Terminator 2 where the bomb goes off.

There's certainly some disintegrating people in that scene.

That was exactly my thought when I read Tbone's post Erathaol.

And I had always been hoping they would be make the main villain be the Riddler, and make a minor villain of Harley Quinne. I'm a little disappointed to hear the replacements, but "in Nolan we trust" right?

False, she was always supposed to be killed in the series to create the permanent drive for Bruce to be Batman. He wanted to quit to be with her and her death sealed his fate to forever fight crime, or at least stop the Joker.

Though, the Joker was also supposed to be in the third one originally and with that out the window it changes things.

I do agree however, that Maggie was a terrible choice to play her in the second one and was far from a realistic love interest for Bruce. I mean he has everything and she is fugly. I don't like Katie Holmes as an actress but at least I think she's cute.

If we proved nothing else with this thread it's that there is no shortage of bodies being ripped/stripped/exploded in film.

Nope, it's not Watchman. But it was a movie that was made in the past 5 or 6 years, I'd say. So it's not Terminator either. It's kinda the same effect as Watchman.

It's a tight shot of the woman's face. I believe the explosion came from behind her. You see the fire blow past her face and the skin is blown off and immediately after the skeleton disintegrates as well. If you blink, you miss the skeleton completely. I just remember being shocked that the a female romantic interest would have such a graphic death.

I could have sworn it was Batman, but maybe I'm mixing up movies. I don't know!

Definitely not Batman. Two-Face is the only flesh and bone you see.  I'd love to learn wtf T is talking about though.

I'd love to see them do the Riddler justice, and I think that no matter what this will be a great third installment of C. Nolan's Batman saga. However, I'd love to see a director come along who could do it the same kind of justice but would be willing to hit the less realistic villains like my all-time favorite: Clayface.
