Matthew 13:49 - "So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just."

Psalm 78:49 - "He loosed on them his fierce anger--
all his fury, rage, and hostility. He dispatched against them
       a band of destroying angels."

Genesis 28:12 - "And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it."

Psalm 91:11 - "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

Hebrews 13:2 - "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. "

Revelation 15:1-"I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues–last, because with them God's wrath is completed. "

Revelation 16:1-"And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth."

Exodus 23:20-"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared."

Judges 6:12-"The angel of the LORD appeared to him and said, 'Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!'"

1 Chronicles 21:27-"Then the LORD spoke to the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath. "

Zechariah 4:1-"Then the angel who talked with me returned and wakened me, as a man is wakened from his sleep. "

Wooo took a lot of research.  I hope we can use some of these in the video, for dramatics, and maybe developing the plot.

Meh.

I've read those and nothing really describes us well I think.  Let's keep on looking.

The only angel-related scripture I think fits not too bad is the one in my sig.

Mine doesn't actually mention angels, but support coming from Zion.  I like it but it doesn't really fit I suppose.

"May He send you help from the santuary and grant you support from Zion." -Psalm 20:2

I guess all I got from this is that my post count went a little higher... :D

There was something about the Nebuchadnezzar's version being an important verse from the bible, perhaps you could use that. or maybe it's too cliché. I'll just look it up for you now.

just posting as many semi-relevant scriptures as I could find.  I'm leaving it up to Tbone.  Some of them sound odd...or not describing us as a faction.  I picked some of them, because they seemed to describe a scene, that could be part of the overall plot of the film.  And others, just because it talked about angels destroying stuff, lol.  I'm not trying to promote my religion...simply finding a unique way to promote the valor and strength of our faction, in ways that aren't relevant to other factions.

it's very hard to be an Angel or mention them without some sort of Biblical reference. the matrix movies, along with numerous other films (like lord of the rings, for example) have very strong, very serious Biblical parallels. everyone is religious, even if they do not believe in God. religion is simply the belief in some sort of supernatural order. we are not really promoting religion by putting up Bible verses, instead we are just strengthening an already conveived belief.

on another note (HAHA music joke ... get it? ... note? .... ok fine) .... the hebrews 13:2 always reminds me of a song (by the newsboys) that goes "entertaining angels by the light of my tv screen, 24/7, you wait for me; entertaining angels while the night becomes history, host of heaven, sing over me" heh ... it amuses me

Quote from: "GrimKitten"
everyone is religious, even if they do not believe in God.

Well someone could be nihilist which makes them not religious at all. But that's an extreme example. :P No, I’m not nihilist.

Anyway, but ya it's true that The Matrix has many Biblical parallels. For example, the names of certain people, places and things in the film were definitely from the Bible.

Then again, most people don't realize that The Matrix also has parallels with writings by Plato in the Republic, which was prebiblical. (is that a word?)

In conclusion, I don’t really have a conclusion. I just wanted to post something that looked credible so I could get my post count to go up. :P It's  2am and I haven't been getting any sleep so I really should sleep.

The Matrix: yes, Lotr: No. Sorry Grim, but Tolkien was teh biggest atheist of us all. Have you ever noticed how there is not one religion in the book? Hell, he wasn't an atheist, he was an Agnostic. He used to shout at people who used to say "hey, look, this part is just like this bit in the bible." Tolkien abandoned god when he fought in the war. That sort of thing makes one doubt god.

yes, tolkien was atheist, but atheist just means you don't believe in God, not that literally you do not make sense of religion. aragorn was a Jesus, in a sense, there was a scene (definately in the book, i think in the special edition of the first movie) where aragorn went to his mother's grave, and the statue above definately resembled Mary. I mean, "The Return of the King," after aragorn had been "dead" to the world in a sense? the temptation to take the ring was there for everyone, but aragorn was the only man to be able to resist that temptation. there is Biblical parallel written all over tolkien's work, whether he realized it or intended it or not.

That is true, but then that is also true of any Fantasy novel. Take the assasin books by Robin Hobb for example: You have an outcast, he dies, comes back to life using supernatural methods, then becomes one of the most loved people in the land. The parralells are endless.

I honestly think athiests say there is no God because they as a majority feel He wouldn't let things go on as they are.  "Why did God let those planes hit the towers?  Why did the tsunami happen?  A loving God wouldn't allow these things...," and so on...which tells me that they actually have a preconceived notion of what God should be like.  They choose to say there is no God because they don't like the answers they get to the questions they ask.

I just don't think they're asking the right people, that's all... :)

EDIT:  My kids love the Newsboys, Grim.  Good song...

you can take almost anything and relate it to biblical themes, but that doesnt mean they were meant to include it.
