Ok, I am currently designing a website for one of my subtopics.  The assigment is due in, in about a moht or so.  Plenty of time.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to keep the website displaying consistantly at different resoloutions.

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you putting in tables for your website? If so, be sure to make the width of the table a percentage instead of a pixel size. For example:

<TABLE cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" frameborder="0" width="80%">
<TR><TD>This is a test.</TD></TR></TABLE>

If you need a sample website to view, I already have a template made up that I made for a radio station once, but if you want to see it, tell me. Well, if you need anymore help, let me know. Thanks.

Ok thanks, I'll try that code out.  Mess around for a bit see what I can get.

Yeah if you wouldn't mind letting me have a glimpse at that website, it'd be pretty cool

You could use some javascript to first detect the screen resolution the user has.
Then, you could show what you wanted how you wanted it but pulling the correct info.

Have a search, but here is a start: http://www.pageresource.com/jscript/jscreen.htm

I'd just make it for the smaller resolutions and then have it stretch....like this site I did for example:

I still just can't quite grasp it yet.  Thisnew web design is pretty  to me.  Building a site's no bother but designing it for res's meh

Yes, you can link them to different images/pages depending on their resolution. But that is a bit annoying.

Basically, using the width='x%' will stretch.
The % is across the current screen resolution.

If you check the SOURCE for this page, you will find it is made netirely of tables. As the tables use % widths, it means it will stretch, or shrink, to the size of the current page.

Ok, I've got the table to strach out now at different resoloutions.  I still have hte vertical scroll but that doesn't really make a big difference.

Next question.  Now that I have placed my image in a table, is it possible to put a table over taht and input some flash buttons so that they resizr witht eh page in the same position.  I'm guessing by placed layers over the table that the table will resize etc while the layers will always stay in teh same postition.  How do I work my way around this?

Thats why I have that page left justified...This way the table will always fall in the same place as the 'layers' (drop down menus).  Other than that...I don't know what you could do.

Here is an example of a website using percentages in the tables:

1.) http://www.freewebtown.com/tcdc/WRLF_website/index2.html
(Notice the top red banner is stretched across the whole screen, and when you start to shink the screen, the banner will stay stretch according to the size of the browser.)

Here is a website that doesn't use percentages in the tables, but stays centered to make the website look the same for some resolutions:

2.) http://www.freewebtown.com/tcdc/index.html
(Even though the tables are centered on this website, the website will look the same for some smaller resolutions until it gets too small to stay centered)

*Note* - If you're looking throughtout the #2 website, please excuse the crew member part of it. I didn't know shit about how many could be on one ship at the time since I wasn't even in beta to know that.

Those are the only two exmaples I could think of. Other than that, I don't know how else I could help you.
