I have a question.  I got fed up in the training level and let the Agents catch me.  What cut scene do you see if you don't let them catch you?

If you're talking about the "Lobby Dreams" scene where the game is determining your skill level, the next opponent after the agent is an exile that looks a bit like Seraph.  He's hard as hell because he teleports a lot and his life bar goes down very slowly.

If you are refering to metacortex, basically you end up running out of the building and catch a ride with trinity on her bike... pretty cool, but same outcome.

The "Lobby Dreams" scene goes like this.

1st round - Security guards

2nd round - Police officers

3rd round - Soldiers

4th round - SWAT Team

5th round - Agent

6th round - Exile

Final Round - Agent Smith

When you beat Agent Smith you are able to play with "The One" Difficulty setting.

Yeah I didn't manage to beat the SWAT Team, did most of them but a couple I had left got me.  So it's just Trinity on a bike.  Huh.  I was really hoping for some more "movie style" cut scenes from within the game engine, like they did in ETM, but no such luck.

i was very dissapointed with this game, even though i thought the gameply was great.

for one, the cutscenes were so disorganized, if it wasn't for the fact that i've seen the trilogy a couple hundred times, i would have had no idea what the hell was going on.  it took away from the experience.  when i got to the final smith battle, it was so anti-climatic.
the story never once kept me interested.  beat one lvl, watch some bad edits, repeat.  it did not feel like i was playing through the movies.

and even though the combat was fun, besides 2 lvls, it was all virtually the same.  fight some SWAT members, then 3 agents.  of course, they were creative enough to mix it up a little and have us fight giant ants....
/vomit

also, i was hoping for some extra story that was not in the movies.  there was a great oppurtunity to do this, in the section between M1 and M2, but all they did was give us rescue missions.  besides the random edited scenes inbetween lvls, there was no story content.  very dissapointing.

and the ending.  haha.  funny.  the wachowski's joking on all the people that didn't like the way the trilogies ended.  that joke cost me $50.  i feel ripped off.
i think it's cute how they take their franchise so lightly.  oh, but i think they already used the big giant monster joke in MxO.

First off, in the larger scheme of things, $50 really isn't all that much.

Secondly, I'd be sorely disappointed if I one day discovered that the Wachowski's weren't able to poke a little fun at themselves.  I can't stand people that take themselves so seriously that when they fumble up just once, they're ready to kill.

The brothers have made so much money on this franchise that you'd think they've been given a license to print their own hundred dollar bills.  But through it all they've remained humble enough to be able to joke about it.

I admit I was basically duped out of $50 for a phony alternate ending, but hey, I'm human.  But the joke wasn't on the gamers.  We didn't pay $50 so the Wachowski's could laugh at us.  We paid $50 so we could laugh with them, at all the people that prefer the intellectual laziness of the typical "Happily ever after" ending.

k i'm uploading the game now, along with the mini image so that once you install you can go ahead and delete the full iso to save some space. This puppy has Drive emulation detection so you might wanna get Anti-blaxx if you don't have it already.

I agree with you Bentonn, in some ways;but differ mostly.

I didn't care much for the chopped together cut scenes either. They didn't explain anything story wise and unless you'd seen the actual movies, you were pretty much lost. However, the movies were always criticized for their "lack of story" (total bullshit) so they did that on purpose and went the other way with this one, I think.

Of course the game wasn't anything spectacular outside of the combat. I mean, shit, if a game did as bad as ETM, you think companies would give you a shit load of money to try and make the game better next time? The answer is. unfortunately. no. It's all business, so, maybe next time they'll get the budget and hardware deserving of the franchise.

I agree with Manic. You can only truly poke fun at something you love so much. Kevin Smith made a film career out of star wars jokes and stuff because he loved the stuff so much he couldn't help but make fun of it.

Next, look what happened last time when the Wachowskis included extra story content in a video game. The game was ripped for it's gameplay but never praised for the great insight into the reloaded and revolutions story. It gave some minor characters a time to shine and let you look at Reloaded in a whole new perspective.

Lastly, I think the Wachowskis are bored with all the crap they've had to take with the films and games and comics and shit. Orien and I look at this as a way of the Wachowskis wiping their hands clean of the matrix franchise by making some great inside jokes, throwing in some absurdity, and one level with a bit of philosophical stuff in it.

Was this a waste of 50 bucks? I think not. But hey, that's my opinion. I had a fun time kicking ass as Neo and laughing at the jokes they threw in. Will the Wachowskis make another game and add more story? Who knows. All I know is that this game proved what they can do with the current gen...imagine what they can do with the next gen and a higher budget.

Ooooh, time for my opinion!  I bought the game so I could beat the shit out of people as Neo, and I generally enjoy third person action games.  I agree with the mixed feelings on the ending, but oh well.

All in all, I paid $50 for cool ass, repetitive bullet-time kung-fu action that made my dick hard and I got exactly what I was looking for.  I thoroughly enjoyed it minus the "giant ant funhouse" level.
