How many people can say they've found a homeless person passed out in a public restroom?  Maybe a few.  How many people can say they've had that experience twice?  Me.

The first time was a few years ago up at the arcade at the University of Utah.  I watched a homeless person stumble into the women's restroom, but weirder things have happened, so I didn't think much of it.  About 20 minutes later, a woman went into the restroom, and quickly came out laughing.  The police were called, and people began crowding into the restroom to see.  The guy was face down on the floor, with an empty rum bottle in his hand.

Now, the most recent incident was mere minutes ago.  The lights in the restroom at my office are on a timer with a motion sensor.  If the sensor doesn't detect motion for 20 minutes, the lights shut off.  Once someone enters the room, the lights come on.  So I enter the room to do my thing.  The lights flicker on and I see a pair of feet in one of the stalls.  Taking a minute to think, I soon realize that this guy had to have been in there for over 20 minutes.  I speak up and ask if the guy is alright.  I get no answer.  I ask again, this time a little louder, still no answer.  Assuming the worst has happened, (one of our employees has died on the crapper), I hurry out of there and tell the receptionist to call the police.  Our office is on the top floor of the building, so we watch four squad cars and an ambulance pull into the parking lot.  They get up here as quick as they can and head into the restroom.

About 10 minutes later, the cops bring a homeless guy out of the restroom in handcuffs.  Sure enough, he was drunk and seemed rather confused as to where he was.  The cops say they'll keep him over night for public intoxication.
