you can take a screenshot of your desktop by pressing the "print screen" button on your keyboard, and then pasting it into an art program.
For my desktop, I'm using aston, which is a shell for windows.  It uses a little less than half of the memory of the default xp desktop, so it's pretty nice.

For others, the most widely used would probably be windows blinds.  It simply skin's programs in explorer, and uses anywhere between 5-10mb of ram in addition to explorer.exe.
You can get windows blinds from http://www.stardock.com.

Of course, there's various "other" sites in which you can get both programs for free, and even registered for free ;)

Ok so i got the Theme you had up Itachi, could you perhaps teach me how to add crap into the desktop like at the top in the drop downs etc. Would be much appreciated.

A definite favrourite... it just takes up much less memory than explorer.

T, to add that stuff, you need to go to the master options, and add in the plugins.
