I dont. Smiple because they ask too much money for a cd and the way they track down people who prate. These people seem to agree I hope they win. I dont support Piracy, but i dont condone it ether.

Hmmmmn

So IF she was downloading music:
I would suspect that they can't win. They are using a program that allows the connection of other clients to share data. Use of the program might suggest you are willing to allow others to see what you have on your machine, and share it with them... I would suggest that collection of this data was legal in a way.. it all depends on the program being used to "spy" on her, and that programs rules.

heh, of course it implies that she has never ever downloaded anything, and she has been named, and being sued, in which case she would win I guess.

The problem with the RIAA is that they don't realize the value of their product anymore.  Music just doesn't carry the same weight today as it did thirty years ago.  RIAA seems to be stuck in the past on this issue.  Their product is no longer worth the price they are asking.  The only way they can level their profit margins now is to lower the price of albums, and raise ticket prices for concerts.

The video game industry has now taken over where the music industry once stood.  This is why today we are willing to throw down $50 for a video game, and at the same time think $25 for a music CD is outrageous.

Quote
An employee of Settlement Support Center admitted to Ms. Andersen that he believed that she had not downloaded any music. He explained, however, that Settlement Support Center and the record companies would not quit their debt collection activities because to do so would encourage other people to defend themselves against the record companies’ claims.

That little snippet had me laughing until I peed myself.  "I'm sorry Ms. Andersen, we can't drop our case against you even though we've obviously invaded your privacy.  That would only encourage the victims of our other lawsuits to actually stand up and take action.  Lord knows we can't have that.  It would be in our best interest to continue with our illegal lawsuit against you, so we can continue our other lawsuits without fear of people fighting back.  Thank you for your time Ms. Andersen.  I'm sure this will all work out just fine... as long as you settle out of court for a couple hundred grand, and admit to a crime that you didn't commit."

Go team RIAA!

"As you can see, we've had our....[breif dramatic pause]...eye on you for quite some time, Ms. Andersen."
