Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
« on: July 09, 2006, 12:02:18 am »
So.. I am going to reserve my comments on this movie until I hear a few of yours. But I felt it necessary to go ahead and make this thread... furthermore...

When I saw the preview for the movie Transformers I seriously wanted to run head first into a concrete wall.. anyone else feel that way?

So..  Post your opinions on the PotC..

Yeah, people in my theatre started busted out laughing when they saw the name... but Michael Bay is doing so, who knows? :p

My thoughts of the movie was that it took all the greatness of first one and reinvented them in the sequel. There were some hilarious moments, like Sparrow's introduction and an amazing 3-way sword fight and Krakken (or however the hell you spell it) scenes. Unfortunately though, I felt it dragged on a little too long. There were some slow moments where I was starting to lose interest but those slower moments never carried on as the ones in Superman so it isn't too bad.

All in all, a great movie and highly recommended to anyone who liked the first part. Personally, I don't think it's better because the pacing in the first part was much smoother. The action was always moving and it was always interesting.  This one had so much to do and didn't quite fit it all and make it constantly interesting like I felt the first one did. I can't wait for part 3 next summer.

Oh yeah, and... AWESOME FREAKING ENDING!!!!!

I couldn't get attached to the plot like I could the first one.  The first movie was a bit refreshing compared to most of the swill that was being pushed out around that time.  Dead Man's Chest seemed to take everything that was funny in the first movie and rehash it.  A couple jokes about the rum being gone, Jack Sparrow being himself, and some cool sword fighting.  Other than that... meh.

I'll agree that it was a great movie, but didn't quite live up to the reasons I fell in love with the first one. For example, in the first one, the viewer never really knows what Jack's up to or who's side he's on or why. In the second one, he explained everything to anyone who would hear.

AND WHAT IS UP WITH THESE HANGER ENDINGS???? FIRST SUPERMAN AND NOW PIRATES!!!???

If Johnny acts as good in the second one then I'm gonna love it! But I have heard it's a bit too long like Xtreem said.

The ending of PotC2 was a kick in the nuts, but after having played Halo 2, I at least had some experience with the pain. I would like to point out that many people said the same thing about Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes back. So perhaps the 3rd installment we'll get to see KN in some scantily clad underwear!

One thing though, I did not stay through the end of the credits, was there a "teaser" clip like the monkey from the first one?
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

LooonG movie.... had to pee midway but held it in! Lived up to the 1st movie but i personally don't like long extended action scenes cuz they just kill time away from plot development. Can't wait for the 3rd though

Re-say everything Manic said, but from me and thats how I felt. And there were drawn out times when I was asking when the heck it was gonna end.

I am looking forward to seeing Keith in the next film however.

Anyone heard the soundtrack? I was thinking of download the album off of iTunes, but I didn't want to waste my money if it wasn't that great.

Of course. It's stealing otherwise. I only download music first to see if I like it, and if I do, I go and download it off of iTunes, and then I delete the pirated stuff. :D

Pfft, I steal the hell out of shit.  Wait until you go to college. Fuck paying! :p

I still haven't seen the last 30 minutes of the first, but I throughly enjoyed this one.  I will admit that some parts of this just dragged ass, but it happens.

Indeed. Why wouldn't you pirate music from a PIRATE movie?
