What's your favorite memory?

What is your favorite memory of being in the Furious Angels?

I was jacked in with Broin while in Hampton Green helping him run 11.3 and it suddenly hit me, like it does each time I jack in now, how awesome this game could have been if this game were just going into Alpha testing right now. But what really made this game awesome, and has kept me around for so long, was you guys, my friends, the Furious Angels.

I don't know how I walked onto this train of thought, but what is your favorite memory of being in the Matrix with FA?

I'll begin.

While I do have many great memories being in FA thus far, and plan on having many, many more, I have to say my most favorite memory was back when the new Taskmaster content came out and the Area K was introduced to the game, our first real bit of content since the Pandora's Boxes had been released. I had just turned level 50 and had taken up the role of Upgrade Master for the team, at the behest of Broin who paid for the entire tree in return for using it while PVPing every once in a while (and that's how I got my start in healing).

Everyone was in 01, and I mean everyone. Luckily, Zion outnumbered all of the reds, so they weren't a bother. I can't remember how many were online from FA, but it was quite a handful. For this bit of farming, each person needed 100 Soldier Parts, the 10 Heads, and the Beret. If I remember correctly, the Taskmaster needed to be killed 10 times to get the 10 Heads. We had two teams going, and I was the sole buff provider, giving out Upgrade Master, Combat Tactics, and Efficiency, among others to every FA member. I had a blast trying to remember who needed the buffs, who didn't need the buffs, when the buffs were going to expire, and, most importantly, trying to manage my Inner Strength.

We constantly dominated the Taskmaster, always managing to do the most damage to the Taskmaster. To boot, all the other Zion around us were not only jealous of our efforts (and actually complaining that we were hogging the content), they were simply helping us along by helping us defeat the Taskmaster faster. Now, normally I'm a very humble person (*cough* *cough*), but I can't help but feel that I had a very vital role there in helping us become the first faction to get a majority of our members the Area K Trench Coat.

From that point on, my main goal was to not only keep my team alive, but to keep them in tip-top shape and performing to the best of their abilities. Thank you for that experience.

Your turn. What's one of your favorite memories?

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

My favourite memory was me, Dag, Pirus and Dmax fighting roughly 12 reds. Pirus, Dmax and I were fighting and Dag would recall if we were low on health/needed buffing. We took a few down but didn't win... nevertheless it was awesome.

That or my 1st day in FA or when NoCry, Dag, Dmax, Pirus, Destyn and I fought two teams of Reds and still won.

Sigh... all back in the CR1 days :( I actually think that I'd still be subbed (no pun intended) if CR1 was still live.

My best memory.....

My first time jacking in and tracking down Furious Angels members to get added.  This game had so much potential.  Its frustrating to see what its come to.

We're Angels, not saints.

The olympic team event was amazing... also.. when we were in the DOJO and we challenged all reds to invade and see if they could get in.... we bottlenecked them at the door for almost an hour... I was buffing and healing.. not much on my part but it was still a lot of fun...

Old school! back when we were in zero one... FA versus the collective.

Needless to say it kicked ass.

It was that and all the other times we smoked R.I.P.

One of my favorites was watching Broin get whooped by Seraph.

My ultimate favorite was the end of beta event though. Really the whole beta was great, but the end was icing on the now old and moldy cake.

hmm might not be my favorite but it certainly produced a smile on my face.  During one of the olympic events before I had become an Angel I was in the MA tourney and had to go up agains broin... yes he was fighting in a MA event... well I of course stomped him into the ground :) and kind of snickered knowing I had an interview coming to enter into FA.  This also made things interesting not knowing the kind of person broin was and if he held grudges.  Nevertheless it was a fun memory.

oh and Nocry to comment on your favorite memory... you still cheated!

I would say one of my top memories was jacking into Sai Kung Central with Tbone and finding like 5 reds there.  I opened up on them with hacks and T with the knives; 5 went down and then 6 came back... 6 went down and then 8 came back... We fought them for a long time 8 vs 2 and eventually took them all down.  They then came back with I think 10.

You know though that is how things always was with us.  We were the top notch players with the know how in the game to stay in a fight against th odds and come out on top.

How discouraging it must of always been for REDs to have the numbers against us and 9 times out of 10 come out on the losing end.

Go ahead, make my day.

Geez, I have way too many...

A lot of the early early ones stick in my mind.

Jacking in for the first time and seeing the Stratics guys jumping around on the Hypercube Monument and wondering how the hell they did that.

Getting lost for the first time and crossing the bridge into Westview. I passed an NPC that blended in with all the other pedestrians (I had it turned on) and then heard the all-too familiar Agent noise. It was like right out of the movie. I turned around and there was an Agent (first one I had seen) with a gun pointed straight at me. All I knew to do was run like hell - and I actually got away!

Access node hunting! I remember tagging one of my first ones in Bathory Row. Me and two others were having to hop from rooftop to rooftop because the Agents were following us on the ground (they auto-spawned as soon as you entered a restricted area, but they couldn't get on the roof!). We were jumping in unison and was another big Matrix feel for me.

Of course my memories regarding the faction are just too many to count. Almost every time I jack in there is some sort of reminder of the things that this faction accomplished. To be honest, I have never in any other game seen a guild with the kind of legendary status we somehow attained. Even if some other games have the "biggest guild" for the server or something, most of the time their reputation doesn't spread across servers and never, that I know of, have players equated chatting with a guild member the same as chatting with an icon of the game or the movie for that matter. I mean a lot of people thought we were made up of devs or something. To this day I'll get random messages when I log in with people saying "omg you're Tbone", and I'm sure you all get something similar about being in FA.

In terms of things people will remember about MxO, I'd say 1) Morpheus dying .. 2) The game dying .. and 3) FA

I remember that event because I remember being excited about your interview because we had seen you fight and knew you were one of the best in the server.

Yeah, that was like the entire server vs. FA!

Wow, that's right. That was the first time you were really our patcher. It made all the difference too. That was so funny that no other team could pull out our damage. It was high demand content. I say to the victor go the spoils! They just had to wait their turn!

Two for me...

#1: Experiencing my first live event as an Angel.  Actually, I think I was still in my two-week trial period.  But it was during the Hunt For Morpheus event when Agents were hunting down operatives who were in posession of Neo fragments.  System broadcasts were being sent out about every ten minutes, targeting selected player operatives by name.  Tbone had dispatched teams of Angels all over MegaCity.  The team I was running with was dispatched to the Midian Park neighborhood.

A system broadcast popped up targeting a player named "Wyndrunner", that was the cue to start hunting them down.  People were having trouble pronouncing the name in TS.  The excitement had just overtaken me at that point, so I just started shouting at the top of my lungs "WIND RUNNER! WIND RUNNER!"  I don't remember who it was, but someone came on and said "Ok, we get it.  Geez."  I pretty much shut up for the rest of the night, simply because I knew shouting into the mic was a bit of a taboo.

Remember kids: An Angel never loses their cool under ANY circumstances.

And #2: Being the first people in the game to open a PB4.  I think I was the first to notice that the onslaught of angels had ominous white earpieces, which really sparked ideas about past iterations of the matrix.  We all spent a lot of time that night logging each of the angels' names and researching them.

But to open that box and have literally dozens of Angels fighting in the streets, all we could do was laugh.  I think it wasn't until our second go with it that we devised our strategy for it.  But after that, everyone in the faction worked together to farm the PB gear, so it seemed like at least one night out of the week someone had a Box 4 to open.  Sometimes we'd get two or three done in a night.

Early on I would wonder if the Wachowski Bros. would make a 4th Matrix film, detailing the events of MxO... these days I actually pray they don't.  But if they did, I had the idea that FA would somehow make a cameo appearance.  No real screen time, and no particular dialogue to speak of.  But maybe during a scene of a Zion meeting, you'd see a few people silently standing in the background in white suits and fedoras.  Trademark "V" formation, of course.  Imagine the cries of favoritism.  :D
