In my first 2 sigs I used the sword I get my name from, Tizona. In my third it is the symbol of recall team member.

You know you've been in FA for awhile when you remember/did the first challenge, remember the old URL, have a list of the first 131 members, can name everyone who was a member before you (/count them on one hand to boot),, can remember the exact date te you join.... I can't think of any more for now.
