It's about time this country had a serious discussion about Home Depot.

Whatever happened to that poor guy, it doesn't look like he's coping with it very well!

Also, why in the fuck would you put an embedded Gmaps location entry on a story like that?

Andy and Lana Wachowski, the sibling team behind the Matrix trilogy and Cloud Atlas, have helped resurrect The Matrix for a television commercial. The 30-second spot, for General Electric's Brilliant Machines campaign, will air on Saturday Night Live on April 13 and features Matrix star Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith.

It's cool they resurrected it, but that was a very cheesy and lack luster commercial. Agent Smith talks, what seems to me a bit slower than what I remember from the actual movies.

They completely failed on the "Jack out" sequence through the phone.

The end with the kid was cool, and I got a big smile on my face from it.

However, in the end, this really made me feel like one of those times when someone only does ONE good thing in their entire lives, and are on the brink on personal destruction, (Life, family, job, all of it gone.) and there only way to scrape by it to attempt to tap into their "glory days" or former success.

I love the Matrix.

However, this really felt like a child star trying to make a comeback through an "Awesome, yet really skewed version of something I once did that was cool."

Anyways, I'm off.

Furious since 2006.

I'm floored by the fact that you think the character of Agent Smith was the only good thing Weaving has done in his entire career.  The man is nowhere near the point where he needs to make any kind of comeback.

Anyway, I don't mind that his performance seemed a little phoned-in.  It is just a commercial after all, and obviously intended to be nothing more than a wink-and-a-nod.  I'm mostly just surprised to see the Matrix IP being used legitimately after all these years.

This.

No need to assume, just ask next time. I don't get floored when smack talk is said about TOR, I just let it go as we all have opinions.

Hugo is great. The fact, this was a phone in (High chance) and Hugo took it, just speaks volumes to the guy as an actor and a person.

Seeing the Matrix again is great.

I still think the commercial was a half ass, lame attempt to use old material from their "awesome" days. I'm stoked it was used, the same way you are.

It's just in my opinion, as stated above I had problems with it.

Opinions are like assholes, and I sure got one. Nothing more.

:)

For the record, I thought Cloud Atlas was good, but everything since Reloaded (including V) from those two has been letdown after letdown after letdown.

I take exception.. I thought V was pretty damn good.

Otherwise.. you're right.  Mostly meh.  I think they were better when they were "brothers" but after that..

I also thought V was a pretty damn good movie, so it may be a little unfair for me to say their one and only success. However, in the end the commercial was cool because:

It was the Matrix. <--- Period
The legitimacy of the commercial mixed with the Matrix is very cool. <--- Period
Seeing Hugo as Smith again, epic. <---Period
