Even comes with a cool carrying strap.  It's awesome.

If I made any mistakes or left anything out please feel free to correct me.

If anyone else wants to offer their opinion on a system that he might want please add to this thread.

Hope this helps Broin!

I say screw the floppy and make it a simple $2080. I haven't had one for over a year and don't miss it at all.

Ok few suggestions...

1. Do you really need 2 74 drives. If you get 2 36 you save yourself 200 bucks. Broin is only using this for mxo... its a waist in my opinion.
2. You could save almsot anotehr 200 bucks if you get only 2 512 ramchips instead of 2 1gig. Again dc ddr 1 gig is MORE than enough.
3. 600 watt psu... again you can save anout 75ish if you get a more reasonable psu around 400 ~ 500.
4. If you wanted to cut down the cost another few bucks get a standard case if blinkey lights don't thrill you...

Don't believe everything you think.

He said he has $10,000 to throw at it...... I don't think the setup there will put a dent in his pocket.

Alienware in the computer market is the equivalent to Nike in the footwear market......

It's way above price of what it actually cost to make it and it's sooooo commercialized.

RAM is King.. Put as much RAM in is as you can I have 4Gigs and I never lag. Trust me a great video card an little RAM will still cause rubberbanding.  I do this for a living, more on that see my bio. :)  I have been in the computer business since '96. RAM RAM RAM.. Its cheap currently and you will never get a bigger bang for your buck.

Also go with an Intel Chipset Motherboard.  Whatever is the most current. Intel chipsets are far superior then any other chipset on the market currently. ASUS makes a nice board and so do Intel themselves.

Also I would go with the Radeon x850 again the one with the most RAM the 256.

An Intel chip.  If you have the money go intel far superior speed if you are going with a Xeon.  (I dont care what the independant benchmarks say.  You have to check the entire system to find the bottlenexk not just the CPU.  And putting an AMD CPU in an Intel chipset motherboard bottlenecks it.  The same is true vice versa, a motherboard that has a chipset that works faster with AMD will benchmark faster with an AMD chip.  But the fastest motherboard / CPU combo on the market today when you look at the actual technical white papers is Intel Chipset Motherboard with Intel Xeon CPU.

If this if for the Matrix only, you will have no advantage with Dual CPU's it will not take advantage of the second chip.

Let me know if you want reviews, etc to back any of this up and I will be glad to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys... Truley I appreciate it.  For those who don't know I was in game and mentioned on TS that I would be looking to get a new system in about a month or so and quite a few people stepped forward to give me advise on what to do and get.  Once again thanks.

Go ahead, make my day.

why would u want an nvidia graphics card, even with the 4gig ram, its like putting a jet engine on a tricycle, especially for mxo, stick to radeon, their always one step ahead.
